Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
-Team of 35 people
-2 interns who share the responsibilities
-Drafting and processing NDAs and Artwork Release Letters for licensees
-Running weekly and ad hoc reports on our contracts and metrics for internal stakeholders
-Running the internal and external audits on our contracts
-Supporting the wider team on contracts, amendments and projects

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. As an intern, I began taking care of what was specified in my job description. However, once I got used to and mastered those responsibilities, my line manager and the team encouraged me to get involved with other things, according to my personal and professoinal interests. The company really allows you to grow and take as much responsibility as you want to during the placement.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Skills acquired and developed:
-Time management/ Resilience: Having to work on multiple things at the same time, within deadlines and having to prioritize accordingly.
-Communication: Frequent use of emails improved my written and formal communication. Internal presentations improved my verbal communication skills.
-Attention to detail: When drafting letters/contracts/ammendments, attention to detail is key.
-Team work: Learning to collaborate within a team is key, as it was a large team and I was constantly working with other interns as well.
-MS Office: Daily use of Word and PowerPoint, frequent use of Excel.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Since my internship began online due to the pandemic, I had daily touchbases with my line manager to share what I was working on and ask for guidance whenever I needed help. This gave me great support throughout the first months of the internship. When we started working from the office, that was no longer necessary as I would sit right accross him, and we worked closely throughout the day. The rest of the team was very supportive as well and everyone was always eager to help and teach me new things.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company has a collaborative culture and encourages a healthy work/life balance. The perks of working at Disney are amazing, you never know if you'll find characters walking around the office to take pictures, and every now and then you have the opportunity to pop to the office's cinema to watch Disney's latest release. The companies also has groups/clubs related to Diversity and Inclusion, who often throw events to raise awareness and connect people from the business through experiences and identity.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement. My work allowed me to develop my skills professionally and gain valuable insight in the area I worked on. The team and the company culture was extremely collaborative and friendly, which completely exceeded any expectations I had. I would definitely go back to Disney as a graduate.

What advice would you give to others applying to The Walt Disney Company
The application process is always different depending on the intern position you are applying to. Even if you read it online, there is no guarantee it will be the same the following year, so don't take any reviews for granted. During interviews and assessment centres, be prepared, but also try letting your personalty shine through, as they will be looking for someone they will enjoy working with everyday. If you get the internhsip, don't be nervous about what you should know for day 1, they will teach you everything you need to know!
PS: Disney doesn't offer graduate positions for interns, you need to reapply once you finish university. It will also depend on the company's available roles.
