Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my current placement in Procurement (MBDA Degree apprentices complete a variety of placements in the business) I am involved in daily team meetings, supplier meetings, mentoring younger apprentices, supply chain management activities and supplier engagement activities under the supervision of my manager.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme, MBDA are excellent at providing all apprentices with amazing opportunities to learn, develop, travel and be "part of the team". The workplace culture at MBDA is quite outstanding and I feel very supported by the ECP Programme committee, as well as my placement team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have further developed my confidence and ability to communicate, negotiate, present to small & large groups of colleagues of all different levels, the importance of supplier relationship management, contracting and email etiquette.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised and structed. Apprentices are given a weekly day release at University, which aids a sense of routine.
As well, Apprentices are given a placement plan to structure their apprenticeship and ensure that we get a variety of hands on experience in the workplace in a variety of different departments. It is incredible that we are given the opportunity to not only experience different job roles, but also learn valuable cross-functional skills that will last me a lifetime.
Not only do i have a broadening knowledge of different roles, I have also gained understanding of how different job roles intertwine with each other.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Much support, the ECP team have been amazing with supporting my apprenticeship right from the start and all the way through to where I am today.
Support is given in a variety of ways, such as catch-ups, emails, face to face meetings etc. Not only are the ECP team incredible at supporting and encouraging me, my placement managers have also been very accommodating and are willing to accommodate my learning and professional development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lecturers and module leaders are willing to provide feedback sessions on drafted assignments, as well as provide valuable feedback from assignments after marked.
However, i do feel that some module leaders could be better at differentiated apprentice learnign to full-time students learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I do feel as if the learning we are provided with at Uni plays massive part in my job role. For example, the learning i have completed in my "project planning and control" module has assisted my progression and development in my Procurement role, as i already had knowledge of stakeholders, suppliers, risk management etc.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I play for the MBDA women's netball club, as well as attending apprenticeship careers fairs, the MBDA UK long service awards in 2023.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend MBDA to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because the opportunities i have been provided with at MBDA are something that not many employers are willing to offer, and the community at MBDA is a positive workplace culture and it so supportive of all levels of employees. Lastly, I enjoy coming to work!!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MBDA?
Be yourself :) MBDA are interested in you as a person, not just the grades you have.
