Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role we receive operating events from different teams within Black Rock and then work through resolving these issues and introducing preventative action. This involves asking lots of questions to get an understanding of the situation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love working with my boss and other co workers as they made me feel welcome from day 1, and our friendships have only grown. I really enjoy what I do, and my boss explains any problems I have well and makes sure I understand. Overall, I really enjoy my programme.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned many new skills through this apprenticeship so far. Some of these skills are communication, problem solving and time keeping.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is structured well we have one lecture a week which covers the contents needed for our exam. We also get plenty of revision time before the exam.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am regularly in contact with people out with my team. We also get assigned a buddy who we can meet once a week to talk about an issues we have or anything we are struggling with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We receive an ample amount of support from BPP with a weekly lecture and online resources to help with our exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have not seen any noticeable affects so far with my day to day work. Though the course is very informative and interesting.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Blackrock has a number of networks you can join where you can meet people and grow your network. I have joined a badminton club that BlackRock runs that meets once a week.

Why?
Blackrock has great opportunities to start and grow your career. I always feel supported by everyone around me and overall I feel the office is a positive environment. After my first 7 months of employment, I feel confident I would stay within BlackRock for several years if granted the opportunity.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BlackRock?
The only piece of advice I would give someone joining BlackRock is don’t be afraid to ask questions.
