Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves client relationships, budgets and finances, staff management and training. P&L management. My role also involves the implementation of added value, promotions and refreshers. My role is diverse and also covers HR incidents, payroll, IT and other compliance. The role requires a number of different skill sets.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed the program and felt i did get a lot from it in my journey to higher management roles. The support I received from both my line manager and the Apprentiship provider was positive and supported me through the process. It was a challenge but this was what I wanted.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my skills in many areas such as people management, client relationships and my understanding of these and I was given a number of tools to helps with this such as staff PDR's, WITY profiles and understanding each persons DISC profile to support in conversations with staff/clients.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It was a well structured course, easy to follow with regular check ins with my tutor. A little difficult to juggle work load and the apprentiship so spent many weekends on it but this was for my own development so this was not an issue and it does pay off.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received a lot of support from my manager who was my mentor. She was key to my own success as she also have me tools to help in my progression. I was aware that our apprentiship team were also on hand if required to offer additional support if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider was great but near the 75% completion my tutor went off sick so I was allocated a new one. This tutor clearly had too many learners as i felt i was rushed towards the end and for this reason really struggled to complete. The support of my line manger helped me through and the college did offer an additional tutor to support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helped improve my current skill set but also gave me new tools to use going forward. I was not from a management background and came out of the RAF so had many transferable skills but this course helped to shape the methods i was using and to improve these.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes we have regular get togethers in the form of networking events.

Why?
The job working in the education sector is really rewarding and my line managers have always been supportive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Compass group?
Take advantage of the career pathways and qualifications you can gain as the company is worldwide and additional training could lead to cross sector movement and opportunities.
