Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was assigned promo projects. Depending on the length of the promo, I did research into the material given and wrote scripts. I then got those scripts signed off by the lead creative of the channel the promos were for and began cutting the promos to music.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I consider the work I was given a huge responsibility as it contributed to viewing numbers. I also felt proud knowing my work would actually be shown on each of the channels.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learned so much in the time I've been here. My editing style and the route I take to approaching projects is completely different from 12 months ago. The approach I take now saves time and really helps to get the creative juices flowing. I've also further developed skills in audio mixing and sound design.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was given an incredible amount of support during my internship. The company made sure I could set myself up to work comfortably from home. I also received unwavering support from collogues who I had regular and sometimes daily meetings with. They guided me towards improving my work and I had check ins every Friday to make sure I was doing ok, something I really appreciated given I was working in isolation.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Working from home I feel like I missed out on being in the actual office to experience company culture but the regular Zoom calls more than made up for it. The general atmosphere was friendly and helpful. On the one occasion I made it into the office, it felt like I'd worked there for years. The company also takes Mental health seriously and I was regularly reminded of the support they offered.

I really had the most supportive team imaginable and I'll miss my internship when it comes to an end. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to NBCUniversal
No question is a stupid question. This applies both in the job and at the assessment stage. This is an invaluable learning experience and time flies by so quickly so ask questions and take in as much in as you can.
