Marketing Intern Review

On a day to day basis I assist the marketing managers in all aspects of campaign creation and execution. This includes creating Purchase Orders, Title Research (territories, cast/ director info, awards, reviews, etc. If special interest – info about the brand/celebrity, popularity, competitors, etc.), Scheduling meetings, Create title introduction and distribute to territories, Create decks for managers, Create Powster Pages (Youtube links, Dropbox links), Present weekly in the team meeting on this weeks domestic and international box office

I have been particularly pleased with the amount of responsibility I have been trusted with over the course of my placement. From the beginning I was relied upon and trusted to support the team. Over the course of the year I have not only been treated as an equal but I have been encouraged to shadow and learn exactly how film campaigns are managed. In the second half of my internship I have been lucky enough to be given my own film campaigns to manage, truly implementing my new set of skills.

This internship has helped me to develop excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to confidently present to 100+ people. I have gained a strong working knowledge of business communication tools and programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. I also have a new understanding of working in a fast-paced environment and now thrive under pressure. I have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to get involved with brainstorming and ideation sessions with the wider team.

I have received a lot of support and guidance throughout my internship. My managers have remained consistently interested in my development and have supported me in setting new goals for myself and achieving these. Although I trusted to complete my work independently if I am ever in need of support or guidance all members of the team are always happy to help. I am also consistently encouraged to develop myself as a person and achieve my goals outside of the my day-to-day work.

The atmosphere of the office and more specifically the marketing team is always very happy and inclusive. I have found the team to be genuinely invested in and excited about all of the films, documentaries and media campaigns they are producing. I have found the availability of networks in the work place to be particularly rewarding. I have joined the Young People's Network and The Women's network giving my the chance to make connections and develop new skills outside of my job. I have also enjoyed participating in community volunteering initiatives.

I have loved being a part of the NBCUniversal family and I hope to rejoin this company upon the completion of my degree. I have found that many of my fellow interns have felt the same way about the company and have either seeked out permanent roles in their teams or the wider company. Throughout my placement I have been encouraged to meet and develop friendships with my intern cohort, which not only made the role more exciting during the remote working parts of my placement but also has made the entire experience.
