Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

We were introduced to core functions of the business such as corporate transactions and international dispute resolution. We learned about the work conducted by these teams on a daily basis and heard about key transactions and clients. We also participated in case studies workshops where we represented key stakeholders in commercial law and presented about potential strategies to approach a M/A deal.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Gibson Dunn genuinely impressed me with its expertise and reputation within the technology sector. With clients such as Apple and Intel, Gibson Dunn has faced international disputes and came out with positive and successful records. As a future trainee solicitor, this expertise alongside its flexibility in available seats and secondment opportunities really draws me into the firm.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture and atmosphere was approachable as well as respectful. Whilst displaying the best aspects of the firm, presenters focused on providing future trainees with as much honesty as possible to assist students to make the best-informed decision.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

The insight day, especially the case study presentation, was intellectually stimulating as well as enjoyable. By making the event less technical and interactive, the event gave a snapshot of life as a commercial lawyer. I would like to join Gibson Dunn as a trainee solicitor in the near future as I would like to be part of this vibrant culture.
