Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a SC and logistics apprentice I spend time with a variety of teams, learning how the operate, the problems they face and getting involved in projects and tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme. I always enjoyed business based subjects in school so supply chain was the right choice for me, and I believe I made the right choice for my career. JLR have excelled me by offering such a well-run course and given me all the support I've needed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many supply chain based skills such as forecasting, warehouse and transport management, data integrity, and more. I have also developed soft skills such as project management, interpersonal communication, public speaking and more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well-structured. The university I study under runs a detailed course with a variety of enjoyable modules. JLR aligns with my course and is well organised in arranging my placements to benefit both my university and professional development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
More than enough. JLR offers multiple avenues for support such as early careers teams, cohort leads, mentors, and a great line manager. I always feel like I have support if I need it and it's made regularly available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
More than enough. We have regular tripartite reviews with university to check our progress and ensure we're up to date and happy with work and university.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Because JLR organises placements in line with my university work each benefits the other largely. I'm able to use my developed work place skills in my assignments and vis-versa.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes loads. JLR has a large early careers team who are always working towards organising events such as go karting, paintballing, pub crawls and much more. I've also done multiple early careers events such as career fairs and school visits to develop both myself and future apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
JLR offers a good range of courses, covering most areas involved with car manufacturing meaning there's a course for most people. Once here JLR I have found is a great place to work and an inspiring company to be a part of.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Build your soft skills. A lot of people can get grades but it's important to build skills that stand out. Show your passion for JLR and the car industry.
