Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an operational Performance Analyst my day to day job role will include providing data on our clients or internally upon request, tracking internal performance against targets, creating performance packs on our clients when needed, creating pivot axis tables to show data in detail, and comparing data either yearly or monthly to analyse performance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme as my job role is really interesting and is in an area I didn't have knowledge in so I am able to learn everyday and develop my knowledge. The apprenticeship scheme is also a great way for me to develop my knowledge to support my job role and work towards a qualification. Coming in as an apprentice meant I had a lot of support from various people around me and I know my colleagues as well as other apprentices will be there if I need help.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been able to develop a large range of skills in this job role. Firstly, prior to starting this job role I had little experience in using applications such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint however through completing training courses and carrying out work my knowledge of the system and navigation around these applications has become stronger. I have also been able to develop my skills in this job role such as my math's skills. As we are working with figures, decimals and percentages I need to ensure the correct calculations are being carried out
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured as we have access to a learning plan as well as a road map which sets out the specific targets we need to meet and what learning we have next. This is extremely helpful as it allows me to stay on track with training to then complete my exams at the correct time. This will ensure I am able to finish my apprenticeship in line with the end date.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a large amount of support from my employer. I have never felt as if I am out of my depth with daily tasks as the support and guidance I receive allows me to feel confident in my job role as the work I need to complete is properly explained to me. I feel I have learnt new skills in my job role at a great pace which allows me to balance this with my studies.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider when working towards my qualification. This is through monthly coach contacts and progress reviews to track my progress and to answer any questions I may have. I also feel confident that I am able to speak to my coach with any concerns or questions I have and I will receive an informative reply.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think that working towards a qualification will help me to understand the context of my job role to a greater extent so I can feel more confident carrying out daily tasks. Working towards a qualifications gives me the theory side to my job role and I have been able to gain a large amount of knowledge which can then be applied to my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes,there is a large amount extra curricular activities I can get involved with at work. An example of this is would be the networking events the 'Next-Gen' team at Aon arrange. These are targeted at apprentices and graduates within the company or just the younger employees who are new to the industry and allows us to network with other young people inside and outside Aon.

Why?
I would recommend Aon to a friend as I feel the culture within the company makes it stand out. I felt welcomed to the company and I know Aon is an inclusive and positive place to work. Especially as I'm new to the industry Aon has been a great company to start my career with and gain the knowledge I need.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
I would say do not worry about having little or no experience in the industry as an apprentice. I have been able to start from the very beginning and have learnt so much in my first 6 months and I do not feel I am behind. It is of course extremely important to be yourself as well.
