Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is in inverter delivery. Interfacing with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure that the inverter programmes are followed, activates are carried out effectively and on time by all parties and flagging where something is not on track and needs escalating.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme is very challenging, at times too challenging for me. I really enjoy the challenge and how much it requires me to grow. Sometimes I feel the honest feedback is given too late, I'd prefer it earlier. Prevention is better than cure.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many skills. Ultimately I have gained knowledge of how a part is developed with a supplier to meet gateways on time and the significance of those gateways in ensuring commodity maturity and mitigating risk / increasing chances of commodity success. To do this there are many skills needed

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Generally it is well organised. There are inconsistencies with management style when it comes to apprentices experiences in the workplace but overall it has been well organised and every reasonable effort has been made to help when issues have been made.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is a lot of support for me now. My first manager did not provide as much so I suppose it does depend on that. Outside of my immediate team, there are many departments within the company that offer support and opportunities especially to apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
There is enough support with the content taught during the university times. There is a lack of clarity sometimes with assignment briefs and help to interpret them. The feedback is also very brief most of the time and it is hard to take much learning from it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The course does provide a lot of relevant learning that is valuable to me in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Not so much anymore, I have made some close friends here now and tend to stick with them. But when I first moved here I did get involved with social events at work and this helped me settle in somewhat.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company provides a feeling of safety. It encourages people to try their best and not worry too much about making mistakes but rather supports you to improve when you do :)
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
I would say be brave and polite in your pursuit of effectiveness in your job. Living the exceptional with soul means bringing your true authentic self to work.
