Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a driveline/EDU (electric drive unit) engineer. It consists of testing cars, data analysis, working with CAD and completing a very wide and varied range of tasks to allow for the development of the units.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot and don't regret my choice to join JLR over university or other companies who offered me a role

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so many new skills and am constantly learning new softwares and tasks everyday

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured and there is a clear progression through the degree set out by the university. There is a key emphasis on how everything links back to your apprenticeship and EPA
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive extensive support from my employer. I have weekly 1:1s with my manager and quarterly meetings with my early careers cohort lead and senior manager and a tripartite with my manager and university tutor
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is quarterly meetings with the university and my manager it is clear on the timetable when examinations are and when we have university weeks from the very first week which is useful for planning holidays and time off
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification is focused around my company each new theory we learn we link back to JLR through our essays which allows us to understand the company in a more in depth way and understand how the theories are put into practice in the real world
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a massive early careers network who organise regular activities from weekly football/badminton to hikes, escape rooms and 2 balls a year. There is also driven which is similar to Formula Student designing an electric car and racing it. Alongside this you are included in all of your teams socials

Why?
I think it is a great place to work I feel truly supported through my apprenticeship by everyone around me and don't regret choosing an apprenticeship at all over university
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Research the company thoroughly before you apply and have practise interviews with friends and family
