5/5 - Skills Development
3.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I help out with financial risk reporting and analysis. This includes doing monthly group limits reporting, analysing stress test results and helping with climate risk analysis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
This programme is a brilliant way to get a start within the industry as it gives you a chance to learn hands on from professionals who are happy to help and answer questions

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My IT skills have improved though frequent use of Excel etc. My confidence and communication have also improved through working with a variety on different people and teams on tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure works well for me as it allows for flexibility both if you are ahead or behind. There is always someone to help if you are struggling or to provide more work if you are ahead.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager is always happy to help, provide guidance or answer any questions that I have. I also have regular meetings with my manager, mentor, buddy and wider team to catch-up or talk through tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
We have regular meetings with our training provider but the help provided can massively vary. Sometimes we will get useful support, but for the majority of our training we have little or what is provided is incredibly vague and not very helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The qualification does little to teach you about your role or help with working in an business, with the occasional exception, like the taking minutes unit. You learn more through your role itself and the qualification seems to look more at recounting tasks than learning
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a few however I do not know much about them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend M&G plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This has been a significantly better option for me than a 6th year at school. You have much more freedom with you learning and receive far more support than that in a school. It allows you to learn from experts who are always happy to help or explain things .
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G plc?
Be confident and honest when going through the process. Try not to overthink what you are doing, research the company and approach the end interview with a smile.
