Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My daily tasks at Juniper are carrying out admin tasks on the computer such as filling in attendance for the learners that are on Juniper's sports programme. The other tasks that I have completed are scanning certificates for students who are at our other centers such as Wednesbury and Walsall and putting them onto the database so that we know which students have completed their aims. My daily interactions internally are other members at Juniper in the office such as the staff on the apprenticeship team and people on the HR team. In terms of externally, I speak to other people outside the company on the phone who call in to ask about what programmes we offer and occasionally people from other companies. I also have to complete my apprenticeship work which consists of completing workbooks which are set by my skills coach and sometimes have to join workshops and some I have joined before are communication and safeguarding.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I would say that I have been really enjoying this apprenticeship so far because it has opened my mind to the world of work and it is allowing me to do things that you can't do in school and so I feel like it is developing me as a person and is allowing me to come out of my comfort zone which I feel I wasn't really able to do at school. I really enjoy my daily responsibilities because I am learning new skills from them and I am enjoying the apprenticeship work side of it, joining workshops and completing my apprenticeship tasks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I would say that I have definitely developed my IT skills as I have been using PICSWeb which I haven't used before and getting used to it has been very fun as it has allowed me to complete some very important tasks and I feel this has made a positive impact for both me and Juniper. I feel I have developed my communication skills as I have had to come out of my comfort zone and answer the phones which I feel I have made a good start at and just becoming more confident to speak to the team I work with.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I feel like the apprenticeship is really well structured because I can always ask for help and I know that the help provided will be high standard and in terms of getting feedback on my work, my skills coach is really good at doing this as I will be provided feedback shortly after submitting my workbooks and also the review meetings being every couple of weeks is good because it means that I will constantly know what I need to improve on and then I can get started straight away. I'm constantly provided new tasks, which is really good because it means I can learn new skills and processes constantly which allows me to complete important tasks more smoothly and I really enjoy how this is structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer as I can always ask for help and I have gone to them about personal issues with things like my health and they have been very understanding about and have made me feel better about the situation and this has allowed me to not dwell on it and use it as a positive. I really enjoy interacting with everyone on the team as they make me laugh and I know that they will support me with anything that may be troubling me. My skills coach provides me with lots of support as he is always on teams so I can ask him for help with any work that I'm struggling with and the mix of both online and in person meetings is good because I can get lots of support either way.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive lots of support as they always check with me to see if I have completed my apprenticeship work and I let them know when I get it completed so that they know it's done and also I let them know when I have completed any tasks they give me so that I'm able to move on to the next one. My skills coach always checks on me to see if I am on track with both my apprenticeship work and my off the job hours and this is really good because it allows me to know whether I'm on track or whether I need to improve the way I'm working and this is really helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that doing my apprenticeship at Juniper allows me to perform a lot better at my role because all the people that I work with have lots of years of experience so if I get stuck on a task, they will have knowledge on how they can help me, which allows me to then complete it to a good standard.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are professional networking events as Juniper has apprenticeship award evenings and I will be going to one in May and there is also the opportunity to visit other centres, which may be a possibility for me in the future.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Juniper Training Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
If my friends ever want to go down the route of business admin, I would definitely recommend Juniper to them because it's a really supportive place and there's lots of other opportunities they could go for, for example joining the sports programme that they offer. There are lots of opportunities for them to develop and I feel like the support provided by both the staff and their skills coach if they were to start an apprenticeship is really high standard.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Juniper Training Limited?
I would just say put your most relevant skills forward for whatever role you are applying for
