Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is as a Data Analyst working under the audit team. We are responsible for delivering the General Ledger Analysers which are used to drilldown into accounts to provide details and insights on transactions. The work involved in preparing this involves creating workflows in analysis software and running through the data using best practices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme to a very high extent. I feel that I have developed a lot as an individual and I will finish the programme with a good career progression, finishing as a Qualified Senior in my team. I also enjoy the variety with my work as many different products come my way which I can develop my skills on.

Yes I have learnt many new skills as part of this role, these include:

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised. I am on the fourth cohort of the programme and so the management have had a lot of feedback to use to develop it further. The first year starts with standard data preparation which is easy and straightforward enough to understand on our first year. The second year then develops our knowledge and accountancy which gives us a good understanding in the industry. The third and fourth year allow us to be more independent and specialise in our roles.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer as I have a large support network to go to if I need help. My supervisor is there to help me with questions I have on my day-to-day role, my line manager is there for queries about my programme, and my counsellor is available to help with any personal concerns.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive ample support from my training provider. On their online hub platform they have sufficient resources to aid me with working towards my assignment. In addition, my university counsellor is always available to help me with any course specific questions that I may have, as well as issues that arise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that my qualification helps me to a lesser extent in my role. There are a few modules for example cybersecurity, object oriented programming and infrastructure that I have done with my training provider but have never used in a work setting. At times it feels that I may forget about the content that I do as I do not have the chance to practice it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I did get involved in a few extra curricular activities with my work. I have volunteered as an Apprentice Representative, Apprentice Ambassador, EY Foundation Group Lead, and as a mentor. I get many chances to help out and participate in events like these however this year I am really busy with work so I haven't done as much.

Why?
EY is a great place to grow your career as well as grow yourself as an individual. It is a great learning environment where I have never been turned away from asking questions. You get lots of exposure to senior stakeholders such as directors and partners, as well as with client-facing work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Do a lot of research on the company. Learn about the company values by reading up on it online, and read articles by EY employees to understand what are the current trends and challenges EY is facing. In addition, think about how you may fit in at EY and what they are investing into.
