Deputy hotel manager
Oversee the running of the hotel in place of the hotel manager.
This includes health and safety making sure we are fully compliant, rotas labour housekeeping, training the team in any new policies. Checking guests in or out room checking
Dealing with labour forecast and working towards our targets

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed my programme.
I enjoyed the webinars and learning new information. As a manager you always think you know everything but a lot of the course was a eye opener I think it was coz it wasn’t just based on your workplace but the hospitality as a whole

I have developed on my feedback listening and working in any feedback from my peers or colleagues.
Change curve was a eye opener for me as I never realised just what makes people be opposed to change.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It was well organised and structured. Half way through I did change my tutor but this was done smoothly and efficiently. The tutor coming towards the end would make sure I was doing weekly meetings with herself and didn’t take any excuses. She helped me with the organising of my end point assessment and made sure I was fully confident going forward
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received quite a lot of support from my employer. Be if my HM was actually on the course with me so we helped each other along. There was times when I was ready to just walk away but I never with my HM help I carried on and passed my course
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
You get loads of support from the trainers. I couldn’t ask them for anything more they was their at the end of the phone whenever I needed them. Without them and their help I would have given up and walked away from the course completely.
They got me to the end and made sure I was confident

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

We have a really big change coming up in work at the minute with our computer system so this will help me considerably with the change curve and going over it with team members. It also helped me on giving feedback and better leadership techniques to deal with difficult conversations with my team
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have some extra activities in work we can get involved in different pillars going on around the region. I am currently sitting in the financial pillar.
We can get involved in our charity partnership and go to GOSH to see the building what premier inn raised the funds to build

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is such a good company to work for I can’t fault them. They look after the staff even throughout Covid we was given 100% pay last year was 2 payrises pluse team members hourly paid got a summer bonus they also got a living cost of payment vouchers to help them in December aswell
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be open and honest on your interview.
Always work in a team never have the attitude of they are not doing it so neither am I.
Housekeeping isn’t a easy job be prepared physically and mentally.
Reception don’t just sit in the desk make the first impressions count and always smile
