My primary responsibility is that of a tool hire fitter. A fitter's principal responsibility is to service tools returned by customers. Cleaning the equipment, inspecting it for damage, inspecting any replaceable parts such as air filters, and ultimately inspecting the performance and safety of the equipment are all part of servicing. delivering and collecting tools from the counter My new responsibilities include serving as the reserve HGC HIAB driver.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Once boundaries and expectations were established, I relished the freedom to navigate the programme on my own. In my situation, because the training required driving, I spent one week a week observing my mentor in the truck. This gave me the chance to hone my abilities before learning how to operate an HGV. It was an awesome and fulfilling experience, really enjoyed my time.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The most important thing I've learned is that I now have an HGV (class 2) licence. In addition, I obtained HIAB training and am now qualified to make deliveries in the 26t for the branch when the regular drivers are unavailable. I also have a level 2 in English and mathematics.delivering and collecting tools from the counter My new responsibilities include serving as the reserve HGC HIAB driver.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

precisely, very well. The workshop provided master lessons in a number of areas that HGV drivers encounter on a regular basis. green band driving, emissions reduction, and fuel economy; different approaches to load positioning and fastening; The necessity of being the final point of contact for consumers' blind areas; how to utilise a taco; the legal requirements for breaks and rest intervals; preserving the brand; the numerous and varied blind spots that affect HGVs; and emerging technology to help
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have nothing to complain about about Travis Perkins' assistance. Initially, they released me from my regular responsibilities once a week so that I could go out in the truck with my mentor and go to the masterclasses. Secondly, they relieved me of my responsibilities to attend the at-home mathematics and English sessions. Both classes lasted a week, and at the conclusion they released me from my regular responsibilities so I could study for the examinations and become a truck driver.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

couldn't be happier with Mantra for setting up the maths and English masterclasses, providing me the links to participate electronically, and then sending them again after I unintentionally erased the email. I had the good fortune to take a one-on-one mathematical lesson. scheduling the driving instruction, the theoretical exams and the MOD 4 to arrive the day before my maths exam, when I completely lost faith in my ability to complete a level 2
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I can now operate the business vehicle, but before I could do so, the branch would have to make arrangements for an agency driver in case one of the drivers called in sick and couldn't make it to work. Now that I am able to operate the HGV, the branch can efficiently and more affordably fulfil client orders as promised.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Simply put, no! However, there is a Christmas lunch and activity. We went go-karting at a nearby circuit the previous year. I regret not finishing in the top 3 in any of our races, but I assume this is because I drive like Miss Daisy. I'm a little bit at a disadvantage because I don't typically go out for drinks because my job is 26 miles away.

Would you recommend Travis Perkins plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I enjoy working in an environment with rules and restrictions. The hours are OK since I understand what is expected of me and what my actual responsibilities are. They pay on time every time, and the money is decent. While not the most generous, the holiday allowance does rise with extended service. as i said my friends would be ecstatic by this place as I always listen to them take all about.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins plc?
Simply be who you are on the application. Travis Perkins has a catchphrase. "You be You" is an excellent philosophy, and based on my observations, Travis truly embodies it. Our staff members come in a variety of shapes and sizes and come from all areas of life! prohibited hairstyles, etc. They only need that you wear the uniform and keep it tidy.
