Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work night reception at Premier inn. I am responsible for the safety and security of all of our guests at a vulnerable tine of day. As well as this I am responsible for any late checkins to the hotel, working on the bar, cash banking in the early hours of the morning, setting up breakfast as well as any other cleaning duties within the night.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I had wanted to get onto an apprenticeship program for years and finally got onto it so this meant everything to me. Once they changed the way the apprenticeship was laid out - moving from an old system to aptem, was where it made the program easier and more enjoyable. Things were easy to learn, information better to pick up and everything could be recorded in one place. It went alongside my job that I already do so is a great benefit to my career.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have a more general idea of the business, whilst I had experience previous, I have now learned what certain things are called (like what certain laws are called compared to training I had received). I also have knowledge now of topics that I didn't previous such as internal and external customers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Once moving onto a new system it was a lot better. Topics were broken down into 4-6 weekly segments and you just had to focus on that one thing for that period, but those topics then leant into others as you went on, you weren't learning something that wasn't going to be mentioned for another month or so.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
If I needed something as in a question answering they were there to help and show me, but I started in a department that wasn't for the apprenticeship I was doing, I asked for one shift in that department and was never given it. Luckily I had experience previous, and did eventually move into said department partially. None of my calls were attended by any of my managers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Brilliant! I had a gentleman for the majority of the last portion, after starting with someone else who had gotten a promotion so was no longer my coach, and honestly couldn't have done it without him. He is friendly, funny, a great person and someone who is very easy to talk to, an absolute asset to Lifetime. I didn't need him much as I am very much a do it myself person, but he wasn't far away to help when I did need help with anything.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I already feel like I was quite proficient in my job role having done it for the past 8 years, however this is now something I have to use and take with me for future job opportunities, which is really where this qualification will benefit me going forward the most.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We do fundraisers in house for GOSH charity, this is about the only thing.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Over all it is a great place to work and a great company to work for. Guests can be a pain but the company itself is amazing, have had nothing but support as a whole from Whitbread, especially during the pandemic.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be honest about why you want to work there, it doesn't always have to be this big grand reason, but hospitality is something that you have to want to get into if you see it as a career, take the apprenticeship opportunities if you can they'll help you greatly.
