Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in the south east of England and support further education colleges and universities with their Pearson qualifications. Provide advice and guidance around qualifications and services that pearson offer . I provide training and support for the institutions I work with including face to face update and support for current government education policy.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
In my experience when you take on new learning, there are parts which stimulate more than others. However I found it a really rewarding experience. I enjoyed developing my knowledge and skills in new ways and being able to understand academic theories that relate to my role and senior management.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have learnt many new skills throughout my learning on my apprenticeship. It has lead to opportunities to get involved in parts of the the business I was not familiar with previously and meet new colleagues and understand how their departments operate. I have had the opportunity to apply my academic learning to the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I found the SLMDA very well structured, it closely follows the academic MBA part of study. The EPA is a tough assessment and requires additional work to map the project and portfolio to the standard criteria. On the whole, I found I needed more time to complete the EPA gateway preparation than I thought I would.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer apprenticeship team and line managers were exceptional and provided me with sufficient time and support to complete all of the elements I required. I had a few personal issues along the way and they were supportive and accommodating, so that I maintained the momentum to complete my studies.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The Open University and my practice tutor were very supportive and provided me with support and tutoring to complete my studies. Much of the academic study was self study via their portal, but it was well resourced and easy to follow. Whilst the pace was demanding, it was not too onerous.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Yes, it provides a better understand of academic theories and how they can be applied in the workplace. I enjoyed the academic study although some of it was a little repetitive. There were elements of the academic study that have provided greater insights into senior leadership and management which aids my performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of extra curricular activities that my employer encourages staff to get involved with, but as most people work at least part of the time from their homes. Home office or hybrid workers, most of these activities are arranged virtually, for example, quizzes and other opportunities to be social.
