Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is typically working 4 days a week and studying for 1 day at University. I work with clients on various projects, which means there is lots of flexibility in day to day work. For example, I have worked in both AML and Conduct Risk- but there is also opportunity to move to areas such as Cybersecurity and PAS. I enjoy the flexibility and not having the same day everyday
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme to a large extent. I gain real life work experience at one of the Big 4 companies whilst studying for a degree. I have no student debt and get paid a wage which is great financially to help kickstart into saving for a house. I would always recommend a degree apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely developed my organisation and time-management skills. Working a full time job alongside studying for a degree can be initially challenging, however it has helped me in the long run to priorities my time better and I now feel very organized. EY offer study days throughout the year to help balance meeting assignment deadlines.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured as it is well established. I am the fourth cohort to go through this so there has been opportunity for EY to learn from previous mistakes which has helped massively. It is also beneficial as previous cohorts are always on board to lend a helping hand.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

EY is a great support especially when dealing with University. If I have ever encountered a problem they do not hesitate to intervene and ensure that Uni is aware of our pressing work schedules and ensure teaching content is up to standard. There is also a variety of support networks you can join.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Northumbria provides a personalized coach who you typically meet with every 3 months, to help track your progress and set goals for the year. The coach system is useful as it is nice to have a contact within Uni to help provide a greater insight into how it works and reassure.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me to perform better as the degree I am learning is Business Leadership and Management. I am in a Business Consultant role so it helps to open my eyes to multiple teaching theories and also improve my self awareness, so i can understand how best to interact in a team and develop my connections.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is lots of opportunites to get involved- I know many of my peers are involved in sporting events such as netball and football tournaments. For those who aren't particularly sporty, there is networking events available. I am a student ambassador so go out to local schools and encourage kids to consider EY,

Why?
It is a nice place to work, there is a variety of experience amongst teams which helps to broaden your insight and your way of working. The working day is very flexible, meaning you can start and end as you wish as long as you meet your agreed hours which I love.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
When applying for a role at EY, it is vital to be yourself. Especially in the interview scenario, remember this is also your time to assess whether EY is a good fit for you. In the maths and english tests, make sure to read each question carefully and take care with answers.
