Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at EY?

Very positive, much more supportive than I has expected from a Big 4 firm

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Learning the basics, operational excellence, creating engagements, working with EY offices around the globe, excel, some tax technical items

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

4/5
Sometimes I feel capped in my contribution because of my level, but I mostly surprised by how often my opinion is valued

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
Fairly paid, could be a few more benefits but happy overall

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
Very well prepared for the future, with the qualification, internal training and experience on the job

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

4/5
Developing lots of skills, but it is sometimes hard to carve out time to learn the specific things which are relevant to my projects

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
Excellent - we have someone dedicated to the apprenticeship/grad schemes to look after our experience/wellbeing/pathway. And a counsellor (manager) as well as a buddy.

How is your work-life balance?

4/5
Sometimes the hours are long, but time off / weekends / evenings are respected.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
Inclusive, positive atmosphere

How would you rate EY initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
Good corporate social responsibility opportunities, volunteering, helping with charity. Networks to join, socials etc

How would you rate EY CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
I am CSR rep for my team - lots of great opportunities, and its nice to see the impact the firm is having on the world around us

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?

Yes

Why?

You get the prestige of working for a Big 4 company, but the support as if you were at a smaller firm. Great networks of colleagues and friends, very kind managers, everyone takes the time to explain things to you. Great first job.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Pretty much perfectly - admin/client meetings/tax legislation/excel - lots of variety, really able and encouraged to find your niche, and to pursue your own interests

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to EY?

Highlight being inquisitive and proactive. Refer back to EY's values in all answers, and use the STARR technique to answer interview questions. Feel free to roleplay and act like it's a drama task in some of the scenario tests...
