Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role varies on a day to day basis providing different challenges in order to fulfill clients needs between working on tax audits (to ensure prior year compliance) and tax compliance (to collate workings and provide a tax return).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme comes with many challenges, however, working with the team that I do, work is often enjoyable and while there are moments of challenge, on the whole it is an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I experience a large amount of client communication and my professional writing, as a result, has improved significantly alongside more general team communication and developing a greater eye for the finer details in work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme has been running for a number of years now and is well run but sometimes could do with more support in regards to the external training - as we are leaving Covid behind, there could be more in person events/training.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support comes in various forms such as Apprenticeship coaches, Buddies and Counselors who are all valuable assets in development and support if necessary.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Training has recently taken place online and while support is offered, it can often be difficult to reach out without meeting the tutor in person and it is hard for the tutor to understand what the class struggles with if there is only online interaction.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As a broadstroke approach to accounting, the qualification is not specialised in tax and does not help me to perform better. However, there are a lot of opportunities in future career prospects that open doors due to the qualification so in the long-term there are benefits.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are irregular socials held for teams and informal clubs (such as our tax 5-a-side) which allow for less structured networking opportunities and relaxation outside the work environment.

Why?
EY offers a broad range of opportunities to get involved in different lines of work (be that consulting, tax, audits, etc.) and everyone has something at EY that will no doubt interest them and will be, if nothing else, an invaluable learning experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Be yourself! As boring and standard as it is as an answer, during the process, you will have the opportunity to speak to partners and senior members of the team where you can showcase why you think you should be the one they chose.
