Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am an apprentice field service engineer, this involves repairing, maintaining and installing state of the art medical imagining equipment. Day to day I travel to different hospitals to work on a range of different products from X-Ray, MR, CT etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The thing i enjoy the most about my apprenticeship programme is the fact that everyday is different and you can be going to different sites and meeting new people. I find that this is brilliant as you never get bored and you can challenge yourself everyday.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed lots of skills in this apprenticeship to do with engineering, however i have also built up lots of new skills within myself and I feel that i have really grown as a person. Speaking to customers and engineers has really made a difference in my day to day life.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeship programme is very well organised and structured, when you get brought into the programme there is a lot to take in however they make it very easy for you to settle in. Our learning is very structured as we have our on site experience with engineers, our days at college and days with our training provider to ensure our programme is going the way it should be.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
If I am in any need of support Siemens Healthineers are always there to help! The apprentice manager is always there to help us if something is bugging us and i feel that this is crucial as the work can get tough however very rewarding when you complete it! Anyone in the organisation is willing to give support which I think is very rare.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive lots of support with Stegta throughout working towards my qualification, this is done through regular meetings and reviews to make sure we are hitting our targets. Also if we have any queries or issues, our training officer and others throughout Stegta are willing to help and give support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that the qualification helps me perform better in my role as there are lots of different units to hit and this helps me cover every aspect of my job. These are reviewed every month and if I'm not working on enough of one thing, they will help me tailor my work on site so that i am continuously learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of activities to be involved with at Siemens Healthineers, these include things like Summer and Winter socials with your local engineers. Apprentice Forums which we do twice a year to meet up with the other apprentices, at the forum we also take part in activities in the evening and go for a meal afterwards. I have also had the chance to be involved in charity work with Siemens Healthineers by climbing Snowdon which was brilliant.
