Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day to day I attend hospital sites maintaining and fixing faults on medical imaging systems. On top of this I balance college work and NVQ work at the same time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I look forward to each day working out on site as it offers different experiences on a day to day basis. There is also great opportunity to travel as this is a field service role which I particularly enjoy.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The role has helped me develop an array of engineering fundamentals and job specific skills. Every day is definitely a new learning curve as there is so much variance to the work I carry out.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The 4 year span for me has been very well structured and supported, allowing me to progressively improve year by year. This is largely due to the fact you spend a large portion of your early years learning fundamentals for the difficulty of work to increase in the later years.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is offered from multiple people and sources which has proven to help me across the apprenticeship. You have your workplace mentors, managers, college tutors, training provider tutors and officers which are all happy to help you along the way.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There has been an abundance of support from my training provider, STEGTA, when it comes to completing all the work that comes under the NVQ. That being said, you are also given freedom to progress at your own pace while knowing they are there if you need them, which is very healthy.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The work undergone through STEGTA has been beneficial for me to build fundamental skills that I can carry across into the workplace. Some of the work is not related to my day to day job but it was to my benefit that we covered such an array of training subjects.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Within the company there are regular social events which are good fun as well as important in order to get to know your colleagues a bit more. We have also partook in charity events such as sponsored fundraisers and challenges.

Yes
Why?
There is such a vast amount of opportunities to learn and avenues to go down for a career that I would recommend the apprenticeship to anyone. The enjoyable work that you do day to day is also a huge factor as to why I would recommend, as well as the support you receive whilst getting your qualifications.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers?
Be proactive in your approach to learning, and make that clear to your employer from the start. It's important to remember that when you begin the apprenticeship, you are starting from scratch and so an attitude of wanting to learn and progress is definitely a key point. And also to relax if you get to an interview stage, your employer will want to get to know you for you!
