Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I’m assigned jobs at various hospitals where I help and learn from experienced engineers. I attend college once a week for my qualifications.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I’ve enjoyed the apprenticeship a lot. The jobs are always interesting and the engineers are great to work with. I have lots of support from the managers, engineers, and other apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’m constantly developing my skills as an engineer. This largely includes troubleshooting and working with tools. I’m learning about highly advanced medical imaging machines, and how to service them and fix common faults.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It introduced me into the company in a stress free way. I spent the first year mostly at college, only going out on site with an engineer. In the later years I was given a van to drive to the site alone and I only attended college once a week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have lots of support from the engineers, managers, and other apprentices. I have several people I can ask for help with any problems I have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider gives lots of support and feedback on the work I’m doing for my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Lots of the work I do for my qualification ties into the work I’m doing on site. I can draw on the knowledge from my qualifications and apply it to the jobs I’m on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are regular social events and forums. It’s a great time to meet/catch up with the engineers, managers, and other apprentices. An example of this is when we meet for a forum we have a meal and activity, such as bowling, after.

Would you recommend Siemens Healthineers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a really interesting field to work in and the apprenticeship is a great way to prepare yourself for it. You get to meet the team and gain knowledge/experience over the 4 years.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers?
If you’re interested in engineering and don’t like seeing the same place/things every day you should definitely apply.
