Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Firstly, checking tasks which need completing or updates on. I'll report ro any manager, senior developer or team member who needs reporting to. I'll attend any meetings for the day (typically a daily standup), but sometimes we have wider team meetings. These stay the same regardless of if I work in the office or at home (of which I have the choice to).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much so. I have a lot of freedom as to how I work and where I work, my team members are friendly and helpful, I have all of the guidance I need to complete my apprenticeship to a high standard, and I'm given opportunities outside of the office across many organisations for enrichment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've developed countless new skills at HPE. Firstly, networking skills have been started and developed from the ground up, as well as soft skills which are useful in the workplace. These can include staying healthy to improving my mental health. As well of this, my skills as a software engineer have been developed extensively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. There was always a bit of settling in when I first joined (as with any apprenticeship), but after this period, the program became very well structured and organised, with clear goals and objectives set by my manager and myself, as well as clear workflows which I can follow to excel.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much as I need. HPE always ensures that my needs are met, and they clearly show this with how much time and resources are invested into apprentices at the firm. Not only are we just apprentices who always need help, we are full team members who contribute as much as we can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Most of what I need. My training provider has huge libraries of resouces I can use, as well as software which is usually quite expensive which I can obtain for free through my training provider to help improve my workflow. However, improvements in communication between teachers is necessary within my training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification not only teaches me how to write code. It also teaches me how to become an expert in what I do, which is providing digital solutions. I can pull information from a wide variety of lectures for digital solutions in the real world, as well as skills such as presenting and referencing sources.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Many. There are lots of sporting extra-curricular activities I can get involved in, such as a football club, as well as other extra-curricular activities, like games nights, Dungeons and Dragons clubs, and creative days where I can propose creative solutions to various problems in the workplace. Not only this, I can help contribute to inventions through schemes which help us patent our creations.
