Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my job role as a store assistant, I have to work on tills, work different stock and pallets and complete a variety of different things such as data checks, stock counts and carding. I also have to communicate with customers if they need help and colleagues so that they know what needs doing and what I am doing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my programme as it has helped me gain and work on a variety of skills. It is also a very friendly environment to work in and also has very good training. There is a good work life balance and the company has goals that everyone can work towards.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt customers service skills and communication skills. I have also developed better maths skills from when a customer is paying cash. In addition, I have also learnt how to move quicker and have got better at multi tasking, time management, leadership and the ability to work in a tight time frame.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Aldi is very structured and organised as every member of staff has their own area to work on so that it gets completed quicker. This means that no one is puzzled about what to do making the store and staff organised. All staff are trained to ensure that they are completing what they need to do to the best of their ability.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My store manager and other managers always check on what I am doing to make sure that I am not overwhelmed with the task that I have been given. I also have regular meetings to check on how I am doing and how I feel about work and work environment
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have regular meetings with my training provider who ensures that I am on track with my apprenticeship and completing my work to a good standard. My training provider will always explain an area that I may get confused about to ensure that I understand the work that I have been given.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification through my training provider helps me to perform better in my role because my training provider teaches me information about the company that I didn’t know beforehand which makes me understand my role and the company better. They also enhance skills such as customer service skills as they teach you how to behave around different customers.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Every store has mini competitions between each other. An example of this is when we had to decorate the canteen for the King’s coronation. The winner of this competition got £75 to spend within the store. There is also a range of different surveys and activities you can take part in on the company app.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Aldi to a friend because it is a friendly environment to work in and you can learn and enhance a range of different skills such as customer service and time management. There is also a good work life balance, good pay and a range of benefits and discounts
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Be prepared to always have a task to complete as well as a lot of exercise such as walking and lifting heavy items. Learn about the company before you apply for it, such as Aldi core values and goals for the year. Be very organised and push yourself to complete tasks as quickly as possible.
