Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis I work within a team to help maintain various different remote connections to devices we have at customer sites. To help do this I must contact the customer and their IT departments, to identify where the issue may be. Also within my role I install PCs and servers at customer sites which allow for our engineers to remotely fix issues the customer might be having.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme overall as I am given plenty of time at work to help develop new skills and have various different training opportunities. Being able to learn while also working is a great part of the programme as my day to day job helps with the apprenticeship side of work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned new skills while working on this apprenticeship, these include now being able to install various different PC parts into a computer or server which I would not of been able to do before. I have also developed on communication skills while having to communicate with colleagues and customers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is well structured as I am given time to work on my apprenticeship work such as a portfolio and practicing for exams whenever I am needing to. Starting the apprenticeship during Covid did originally present some challenges, as it was hard to go out of office on to customer sites however overall this was dealt with well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
If I need any support from my employer I am always able to reach out to them for help with any issue I may be having and will always get a timely response. They also make it clear who is the next person I should contact is, if they are currently unavailable or on leave.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
For my Portfolio side of my qualifications I believe I receive good support as this is checked to make sure I have the correct evidence needed to cover the qualification. However for other parts of my qualification such as practice exams and a project I believe there could be more support provided to outline what is needed for this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I believe the qualification will help me perform better within my role as it helps to give a general overview of IT solutions which can help within my role. It also helps me to learn regarding the network side of IT which is definitely needed within my day to day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At work we have 2 forums a year where all apprentices will meetup this is a good opportunity to meet others who are doing a similar programme to yourself. After the forum there is also an activity which every one takes part in such as bowling. These are good opportunities to meet new people and learn more about the company.
