Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within the Environment and Sustainability team, undertaking a range of environmental assessments and coordination tasks to a wide range of infrastructure projects. Typical work involves engaging with design teams and specialists in order to input to environmental based deliverables
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying the apprenticeship - I am finding the work compliments my study well and vice-versa, which is beneficial. I am able to gain experience on a wide scope of work in order to develop professionally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
The apprenticeship has taught me a wide range of new skills, both in terms of technical skills (through work and university) and more general skills such as communication, time management, digital skills and overall confidence in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Overall well structured. Things can get busy during periods when assignments are due and I have lots on at work, but it is well managed and there is generally plenty of support.
University are accommodating to DAs, understanding other commitments etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty of support from line-manager, mentors etc and wider team whenever I need it. People in the company are always there to help and happy to answer any questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support is there if needed - lecturers are usually quite accommodating and take into account work/study/life balance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Modules/lectures aren't always completely relevant to the role, however give a good view of the environmental discipline and a good baseline knowledge. Certain modules rather than others have more of a direct link. Generally a good fit though and enables me to be more effective at the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of opportunity to get involved - various weekly sports teams, company sports day, away days, payday drinks etc. Good group of apprentices and graduates in the office who are all keen to get involved.
Also opportunities to represent Motts at external events, e.g careers talks, conferences, CPD events.
