Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Engineering predominantly doing structural design work for large scale projects within the nuclear sector.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed getting the on the job experience alongside getting my degree. I have worked on a lot of similar projects so would enjoy a change to get a wider variety of experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Improved my design work and carried out designs in new areas. Improved my communication and presentation skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There are always issues at the start of each term with timetables and ensuring that the part timers can get all the sessions that they need. Once that is sorted, the programme structure runs well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have been given extra time to work on my uni studies especially in my later years where my workload was higher.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There has been a couple of sessions ran with the ICE but we haven't had the number of meetings between uni, myself and my work line manager as we were told and there hasn't been information circulated yet as to what support will be available after graduation.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It has helped with my understanding of engineering, however the large majority of what I have covered in uni has not been relevant to my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are sports and social events, lunch and learn session and knowledge sharing events that you can attend as well as funding to attend organisation conferences and wider industry events.
