Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role as an audit senior involves ultimately involves providing an opinion on companies' financial statements. Day-to-day this involves working collaboratively with my engagement team and the entity we audit to resolve any issues that come up in our review.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the programme at times. Managing studying and working at the same time can be difficult. The apprenticeship can also get very busy at certain times of the year.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Almost all of the skills I have now I learnt during my time at EY, as I did not have any employment experience before I joined.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well-structured. I have a clear understanding of when I will qualify / end my training programme if I pass all my exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer provides an apprenticeship coach who I can speak to about any problems or issues I am having. The apprenticeship did include an informal buddy who was a first point of contact when I first joined. My counsellor is also there to provide any support needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I am very happy with the support Kaplan provide. Their exam resources are very good & their tutoring is excellent. They run mental wealth webinars to help with exam stress too. Their support team & tutors are also always available to contact.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification puts me through some of the hardest accounting exams in the world. Through studying hard for these, you begin to notice those areas/issues in your day-to-day work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a few extra-curricular activities. In my department we run regular social activities. There are also plenty of networking opportunities, such as D&I or the Woman's Network. I believe there are a few sports activities/events to get involved in occasionally, but I have never done this myself.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend EY to a friend because they have helped me learn some many new skills since I have joined. I have developed as a person a lot since I began my journey.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
My advice would be to be yourself in any interviews you have. In particular, at the partner interview, they want to learn about the person you are. EY provides many doors to entry so I would recommend researching all the roles in detail to find the best one for you.
