Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I’m a deputy store manager apprentice. This involves everything from working stock to managing shifts. I am learning everything from how the store runs to what to do if a problem arises.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the development side of the programme as I feel that learning new skills not only helps me with in the job but with life in general. I also enjoy working with the team as I feel that we have a great team that works for each other to achieve our goals as a store.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed many skills from communication to management skills. I have also developed existing skills like time management and dealing with complaints.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
From a company stand point the training that I have been provided with has been great, however the learning provider hasn’t been the best. For example after completing year 1 , the learning provider took almost 4 months to enrol me on to the second part of the course. I think that there could be improvements to how the learning providers deal with their students.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer and especially my manager as she pushes for what I need and can help my development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a lot of support in terms of working towards my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I haven’t received the full qualification yet.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
NA

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think the job in its self can be very rewarding and the apprenticeship as a whole is worth doing as the career prospects are very good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Not to worry about the money as it can be very demoralising that your are on a lot less money than others that you work with, whist being expected to go above and beyond everyone else. I’d say just focus on the end goal as the rewards of passing the apprenticeship will be worth while.
