Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
Doing the same things as a regular store assistant such as serving on till, filling up shelves etc.. with some additional management training such as date checking PI counts, cashing up self check out
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Not at all to be honest it got better lately as they finally started to spend more time with me and train me more management based skills. But I would not recommend this to somebody else as about 80% of the time it feels like the store is using you for £7 an hour

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
Communication with customers, confidence

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Online work is good no complains no issues regular calls with the tutor good support, in store quite poor not much training not much progression although I am now quite happy with the training I am receiving but this has only happened 8 months into my apprenticeship
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
For 8months the support was poor now I have spoken up how I’m losing motivation to carry on with this apprenticeship they have planned quite a bit of training for me right now the support is alright
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am happy with my training provider (online tutor)
They give me enough support we have regular calls, I can also message her any time if I ever need any extra support or a quick catch up call.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I don’t really know what to say to that, about 50% of it helps me in my job role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not really
Colleagues just go bowling from time to time

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
No
Why?
There’s too much work put on one person
For example me a small girl does 5 (on average) backstock bread pallets then 10 delivery bread pallets all that needs to be done in 3h the crates are quite heavy it is very hard to do this on your own I have done it many times so I am able to achieve this but it tires me out a lot to the point I don’t really have the effort to be at work anymore
High expectations in short amount of times
Very busy
I have recently started noticing managers started timing new employees 15min per pallets I think this is insane just not okay I have also spoken to new employees and it stresses them out and puts them off as it is just not enough time
Another thing they can call you up to come in on your day off if they are under staffed you can say no but they remember that and not put you as start of the month as you are not helpful
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Be physically strong
Have a lot of free time
