Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Day to day roles include: working at arms length supervision completing chronic disease reviews, medication administration and supporting GPs and other registered members of staff during and after clinical procedures.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I enjoy the programme somewhat, it’s very challenging and is not as straight forward as is made out to be. There are lots of apprenticeship requirements which are not layed out in full which sometimes mean you can fail the module due to error.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes! I developed knowledge skills and behaviours specific to the Nursing Associate and built upon skills already there with underpinning knowledge from my University.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Learning at university is very structured with timetables given in advance. However, in clinical practice there are lots of if, buts and maybes to your proficencies and no one can answer this for you, meaning you’re stuck in a HCA role for a while.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although my experience was difficult to begin with, the support was fantastic once my issues were raised higher.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Be yourself, take as much time as you need as it’s overwhelming.
