I would manage data quality and compliance across 5 NHS trusts in the East of England, querying and validating large scale provider datasets using SQL, Advanced Excel to identify discrepancies and support commissioning decision-making. I had to identify pricing discrepancies within healthcare datasets, directly contributing to cost savings and flagging areas requiring follow-up with relevant stakeholders. I presented findings monthly to trust managers, finance leads and pharmacists, summarising issues identified and agreeing actions for the following period with ad hoc reporting and communication ongoing throughout and alongside that I contributed actively as part of the Business Intelligence team, offering process improvement suggestions to streamline how the team worked day to day.

Yes, the work had serious results and impacts and equated to the same work my team members would do but on a smaller scale. My team members looked after 3 big providers each, I was given 5 small providers and we had the same workload however theirs was on a much higher scale but the importance stayed the same.

I improved a lot technically, much more confident in using Excel and SQL.

A lot of guidance, my manager had a lot of trust in me and I was WFH so didn't have someone to look over my shoulder and correct any mistakes however not once did I feel left out, my manager always reassured constantly she was just a text away if I ever needed support.

I was WFH so it was much harder to gauge the company culture, only work was discussed in team meetings but out of politeness at the start of every meet would be a few lines asking how everyone's day was otherwise that was as far as the atmosphere would get personal. Everything was strictly business related.

I personally regretted taking on a WFH role and realised your 20s should be all out there, walking about and in person working as often as you can and exploring as much as you can to realise even the smallest of things that could interest you. Being WFH meant very much less opportunities to network and you are in the comfort of your home which can get too comfortable fast and less likely to explore new accidental things. However the work was challenging and excellent for a student entering the corporate world however may have been enhanced and learnt much more if it was office-based.
