Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am responsible for leading the business development team within a Pearson company called Pearson TQ Education and Training. I am specifically responsible for leading the Uniformed and public service accounts. Working with the MD and colleagues I write the growth strategy for the company and directly manage a team of business development managers
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed the research elements of the programme. This really suited my learning style allowing me to explore and discover and challenge my precondition opinion. I love the fact it was linked directly to my work and I could see instant real benefit of the apprenticeship, not just to me personally, but also to my team and company

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The apprenticeship has allowed for the filling of significant gaps in my knowledge, whilst gaining new skills, specifically linked to strategy formulation, finance and global marketing. I think differently now, looking more at the wider picture as opposed to what is just in front of me. It has given me the confidence to back my decisions with knoledge

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The curriculum is well orgainised with great intent from leaders in pearson. There is a clear links into the day to day work. There is great support from my company with allocated mentors, senior leader mentors as well as great support from the Pearson apprenticeship team. I an given 20% of my work time to study as well as fantastic links into a very wide range of Pearson support material as well as the ability to be linked and work with experts within the company
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a huge amount of support from my employer. I have both an allocated mentor as well as a senior leader mentor. Not only am I given 20% of my work time to study, I have also been given study leave to support at times where assessment if due. The Pearson apprenticeship team have been really supportive with events and networking as well as Pearson taking corporate membership of the association of apprenticeships
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The univiersity of West London does not really give me any support towards my apprenticeship now. They were adequate up until we got to the end of the formal study period but have been distinctly lacking since. My employer has picked up the support but too have got very frustrated with the total lack of support during the end phases
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I now ca make decision based upon knowledge and research as in the past it was much more based upon past experience and " gut feeling" This means I can blend my experiences with real knowledge allowing for faster and better-impacting decisions. It has also helps me understand the decision-making of our executive and translate those decisions to our tema
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Absolutely yes, to the point of being too much. Not only has Pearosn taken out corporate membership of the association of apprenticeship which gives me free access to a huge range of resources and networking events, it also runs a good number internally and asks for apprentices to support others
