Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At Capgemini, I have a very varied role, wearing ‘multiple hats’. I work in the retained services team where I am responsible for our flexible resources and forging good relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. In my Intercompany role, I creat intercompany statements of work that are legally binding documents. In my offboarding role I ensure that all resource that have left the company have their access revoked
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I did enjoy my apprenticeship. I did sometimes find it hard to juggle my workload and the assignments but once I found the right balance, I found it enjoyable. I think I would have preferred some more support after finishing my apprenticeship though as I did not know what I wanted to do next and felt a little bit left behind

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have definitely developed my time management skills. By having so many different roles, it didn’t leave a lot of wiggle room so I had to come up with a schedule to ensure that everything was completed on time and to a high standard. I have also definitely developed my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme was very well structured. Before the programme had even started, we received our plan, including the dates that each session would take place, which made it very easy to work around. I work well with structure so I found it very beneficial to know when something was happening that far in advance and when assignments needed to be finished by. It helped me plan my time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I received a moderate amount of support from my employer. I was the first apprentice in my team so it was very new and I think we were all finding our footing on what was the appropriate level of support I should be receiving. Once we had worked this out though, the team made sure to take work away from me to allow me time to complete my assignments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I received so much support from Multiverse when I was completing my apprenticeship. I had monthly coaching sessions with my coach where I was helped with my assignments and given feedback on what I needed to do to improve it and make it the best work that it could be. I also enjoyed the learning sessions that we had, although I did feel that some of the things we were learning were not relevant to the assignments that were set.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I don’t really know if my qualification does help me perform better in my role. Nothing I learnt on my apprenticeship has helped to benefit me when it comes to work but I do feel that I have a better understanding of how the company works as we were given lots of assignments to do deep dives into the company. I think it also helped me because I was able to develop skills that have benefited me in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of events that Capgemini put on; for example early and emerging talent events, Race & equality events, Outfront events. All of them give people to opportunities to get to know other people and their backgrounds and stories. It really helps to humanise my colleagues instead of just seeing them as a picture on the computer screen. I try to go to as many events as possible.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Capgemini to a friend, but a very specific type of friend. I think Capgemini has better opportunities for technical roles that it does for non technical roles. I also think that how flexible Capgemini is with it’s working hours and hybrid working, it would be a great fit for a lot of people who have families so I would also recommend to them
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
I think I would just tell them to be themselves. The people at Capgemini are very supportive so if you are honest in admitting that you don’t know how to do something but are willing to learn, they will be more than happy to train you. I would also say don’t be afraid if thinking that you are under qualified - they like to take on the ‘underdog’
