Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Virtual Open Day consisted of a series of talks, given by members of the firm, including partners, associates, trainees, and members of Graduate Recruitment. Talks included introductions to International Dispute Resolution and International Corporate Transactions, a ‘Meet Our Trainees’ session, and a Commercial Awareness Workshop where we worked in groups with an associate to discuss a commercial case study.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The entire set of talks and interactive sessions was engaging and insightful into both the work undertaken at the firm, and the broader firm culture. Being able to directly pose questions to members of the firm was a great opportunity, and beneficial in developing my understanding of the role each member plays within their team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Not only did the talks on International Dispute Resolution and Corporate Transactions provide me with great insight into the respective practice areas, but the Commercial Awareness Workshop was particularly useful in experiencing some of the work undertaken by trainees. Working in breakout rooms with other Open Day attendees and an associate was a great opportunity in developing my discursive and analytical skills, and also a good test of our organisational skills in quickly putting together a presentation.
