Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the virtual internship and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Gibson Dunn's open day provided an exclusive insight into life at the firm.
The day consisted of practice-focused sessions with fee-earners and a trainee discussion. All attendees engaged with graduate recruitment throughout.
The firm also offered a two and a half hour commercial awareness workshop, with corporate partner, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. This session was the standout of the day and was unique to any legal event I have attended this year!
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
This open day provided a clear insight into the business of Gibson Dunn. I found the talk with training principal, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], informative and inspiring, as it outlined the firm's future strategy and global integration.
I would highly recommend attending an open day with the firm. It will allow you to understand its strengths and market position, prior to formally applying for a vacation scheme or training contract.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Firstly, the firm's practice sessions developed my knowledge on the scale of its international work and free market approach. The trainee discussion allowed me to witness the firm's culture first hand and definitely improved my understandings of training at Gibson Dunn.
Furthermore, the commercial awareness task forced me to analyse specific parties and considerations within an acquisition. Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the virtual internship

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Right from the introductory session, it was evident that Gibson Dunn's culture was one to be admired. Both graduate recruitment and the fee-earners were incredibly friendly and gave us ample time for breaks in between talks. The general atmosphere was great!
From the sessions and our interactions, you could very quickly tell that the firm cares for its staff and puts in the time to nurture everyone, to ensure they reach their full potential.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the virtual internship?
This virtual experience matched my expectations, given the reputation of the firm. The day has allowed me to learn a lot, pick up some neat application tips and gain real-time exposure to some incredibly intelligent and down to earth lawyers!
I would definitely attend another event and I hope that I remain in contact with some of its members, in the future! Ultimately, this experience has increased my desire to work for the firm.
