Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role as an Internal Communication Manager I support our leadership team to build and execute their internal communications strategy. Identifying key audiences, correct communications channels and understanding the wider internal comms strategy to identify opportunities for collaboration. I build content including briefing packs, articles, videos and events. Measurement is a key area of my role to ensure colleagues understand messages and to identify if we need to do anything different.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme greatly. The opportunity to come together with other individuals in similar job roles is invaluable. You have the opportunity to share best practice, learn from each other and have insight into another way of thinking. The tutors have vast experience in the area that they teach, which allows us great insight.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have vastly improved my external PR skills. The workshops have allowed me to develop new skills in drafting press releases, developing content for social media, understanding how to interact with media and using models to improve my writing skills for long articles and blogs. I was able to put these into practice in my everyday role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is structured well. The structure is designed to flow month on month, so that what we learns builds on knowledge from previous sessions. Our of the job tasks are designed to support our most recent learning and allow us to put the theory into practice to show how much we have learnt.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been outstanding. The flexibility they have shown in allowing me the space to complete my apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to test myself and the skills I am gaining. They have always been on hand to answer any questions and to share their own experience with me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
You have many layers of support from the provider. You have monthly skills coach sessions which allow you to go over any learning from the previous seminar and to ask questions where you might need further help. They also help you practice skills such as presentations and report writing. You also have a learner progress adviser who helps you keep on track during your apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification has expanded my knowledge base and given me extra opportunities to test new skills. It has also allow me to test my presentation and report writing skills that are easily transferable to my role. It has also broadened my understanding of my field of expertise and the opportunities available to me in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have a number of extra-curricular activities available for colleagues to get involved in, both in your local team or as a wider business. These range from sports teams to DE&I networks based on where your interests lie. We have flexible working arrangements, so for those hybrid workers we also host informal quizzes virtually.
