Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves learning about the relationship manager role in Business Banking. This involves supporting current Relationship Managers in the role with tasks and roles. The role is centered on supporting businesses with their banking, including lending and other banking products. I have covered colleagues portfolios whilst I have been away. I have also been working on improving the teams needs met performance by delivering mail merge exercise. Alongside the work I study for a Level 6 Financial Services Professional.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme, the ability to learn from new. I have a supportive and collaborative team. The study is good and challenging, to learn more about the bank and financial services. I have a free role in the Bank to learn about different aspects as part of the role. There are opportunities to learn, network and engage.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my understanding of bank processes and systems, and along with the products the bank offer. I am developing my skills in communicating with clients, colleagues and other parties. I have developed my understanding more about the financial services industry. My organisation skills have developed by managing work and study alongside each other.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well, with regular webinars and learning opportunities, and structured learning time. I have opportunites for training and development. I have set days planned in the office to work with the team. I have flexibility and opportunities to work from home for study. My line manager has set me targets to develop and improve.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager and other colleagues have been very supportive. We have a collaborative team. My line manager has given me training days, as well as one on one coaching. My employer gives me set time to do my study, 6 hours per week. Colleagues give me opportunities to learn and develop. I also have working from home equipment set up
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

6 hours per week set study time. I have tutor who deliver webinar sessions supporting with the learning. I have a coach who helps me work to a plan. The training provider records sessions and webinars, allowing me to catch up if I miss it. This also gives me a chance to recap any bits I feel I need. There is a study guide along with materials for me to use when writing my assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My first section has been on professionalism and ethics. This helps me recognise the correct qualities needed for a banker. The study does not necessarily help me improve the day-to-day aspects. However, it helps me use the correct attitudes and behaviours for my role. I am looking forward to learning about lending specifically moving forwards.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are networking events that I can be part of. This includes gender networks, climate ones and other relevant societies. From my understanding there isn't many sporting or other club based societies available but these could be set up. There is just networking events / teams that you can be part of.

Why?
NatWest is a inclusive employer with plenty of opportunities to grow and develop. I work with some supportive colleagues. I have opportunities to be flexible and learn new things. I am supported by technology with work phones, work computers provided. I am able to work collaboratively and have opportunities to meet new people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
I would suggest to be confident in yourself and be clear on what you've done previously to have the right qualities for the role. research the role and be clear if it's something that you want to do and are interested in. That's important! Look through the job description and see if you have the right qualities for the role.
