Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in Audit and this involves performing risk assessments over companies and designing and performing audit procedures to address these risks. As an example, this may involve identifying revenue as high risk due to the complex nature, and then testing revenue numbers by agreeing to supporting documentation i.e. invoice.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot for the following reasons:
- lots of experiences and opportunities to learn
- work in various departments and support a variety of clients in different industries
- lots of networking
- support and help from seniors
- very structured and organised
- generous salary and reward schemes
- off the job opportunities

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, lots!
- Excel skills which help speed up my work, by increasing by efficiency. Audit involves lots of excel work so is helpful when you are continuously finding quicker ways to do tasks
- Communication skills - verbally and written
- Analysing data - as mentioned above audit involves lots of excel and using files with lots of data that needs to be understood
- Professional scepticism
- Assimilating and presenting information

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured as it has course dates and off the job learning hours planned out. There is a very clear career route with dates which gives clarity of how you are progressing and what stage of the career you are at. The organisation is very good with lots of support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer:
- support with exams by providing college bookings, revision and support if retaking
- support with off the job learning hours by providing training and oppurtunities
- support with mental health by providing people to speak with if strggling, options to help with work life balance

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Lots of support
- support with resits - if you are ressitting an exam you are supported with a plan to help and improve so that you can pass the exam next time
- practice mocks provided
- always available via email to ask questions
- good course notes provided that help understand topics when self studying/revising
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I learn technical content that helps with my role as an audit. It helps me understand technical accounting such as derivatives and group accounting.
It also helps me develop auditing skills. This includes understanding risk assessment and designing appropriate audit procedures to address these risks.
Skills are also developed such as time management.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, these includes;
- Social activities - always social events occuring, within your team, department and other groups associated with
sports teams - plenty of sports teams to get involved with such as football and netball
professional netoworking events- oppurtunities to meet new people across the firm and understand other areas of what our company does

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
- make yourself aware of the values of company(can be found online) - it is important that you can relate to these values so that you will fit in well with the company
- understand what the firm offers, different departments and services provided, this will help you understand the opportunities in the firm and how much of an impact it has on the community
