Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
I work in TPRM. I review assessments and engage with clients in order to ensure all policies are in place.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
The people here are great and they offer great support for your health and wellness. However, they do not have many ongoing projects hence many employees are on the bench. You do not have the flexibility of trying different specialisms that is relevant to your degree.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
Communication - building rapport with team leads and clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The programme itself with BPP is very organised. BPP are excellent with their structure. However, you are losing out on the experience at EY.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
You receive mandatory study days and a counsellor to guide you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot. They are active and always on the lookout to help you. They do provide extra resources to assist you.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Not much. The project we are doing is not directly relevant to what we learn. We are doing very basic admin work which is also currently being completed by CMDA apprentices/assessors which explains why the work is not technical.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes - there are sports teams and CSR days to volunteer.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
No
Why?
It is a great company in terms of the people. The management is not great as they are not organised and they do not take criticism well. They do not always look out in your best interest. As EY is global company, you would expect flexibility which is not there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Do not apply to EY Newcastle. It is not managed well. I have heard other offices are much better. Apprentices at other offices have more flexibility and exposure. They gain more skills. Within the same company you see a difference in the calibre of apprentices formed.
