Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the turnaround and restructuring service line of EY, this involves working on administrations, liquidations and independent business reviews. My tasks include analysing data, presenting data, dealing with clients, customers and suppliers for businesses in administration. The skills i use are problem solving, creative thinking and team working.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I very much enjoy my programme as i get to work with a variety of people across my service line and different regions and also different service lines. I am supported throughout my work and studies and get to benefit from flexible working with working from home, client site and the office.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a variety of new skills including team working, client communication, problem solving, dealing with different data sets and also new ways of presenting data. My networking skills have massively developed here through the opportunities to meet new people internally and externally and this has developed my people skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is structured well and my exams are split equally throughout the programme giving sufficient time to study and have a break from the studying to allow time to focus on client work. You have a counsellor, buddy and apprenticeship coach to support you in your studies and help you stay on track.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
You have a counsellor, buddy and apprenticeship coach to support you in your studies and help you stay on track. Everyone in the firm is very welcoming to help you so you are not limited to these individuals. In work time there is a lot of support from your engagement team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider is very helpful in times of exams as you have several ways of contacting them and they always get back to you in a timely manner with any questions or queries you have. This makes you much more comfortable in this time of studying as they will always help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My exams help me in my course as I develop a better understanding of financial statements which is what I deal with on a day to day basis. I work in restructuring so my exams have limited links to that specifically, but there are more exams I can continue to sit to help this.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are many, netball, football, general networking socials. There are many opportunities to network internally and externally with the EY level 1 network, Birmingham Charted Accounting Student Society , whole office socials, sub service line socials and service line socials. The activities of these socials vary to make them more exciting.
