Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Accounting work, meetings with clients, working on various sectors and different industries. Anywhere from working on excels of controls to creating documents documenting different variables in a entity, looking at climate change responses by entities, team meetings, various external accounting projects and engagements, alongside with trainings and college work to maintain.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it thoroughly, working with people of all ages and experience, learning loads from them as well as enjoying working with people my age and other apprentices, at college, the close knit community through different events such as sports teams also contributes to the nature of the company, which has a very friendly vibe.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My communication skills have dramatically improved, working with many bright, ambitious people, who are teaching you, so you are picking up numerous skills in terms of the actual work type - Audit, as well as both soft and hard skills. I am technologically a lot more capable working with different in-house programmes as well as external ones.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well, it is done so you are given plenty of time to revise for your exam, and if you feel you do not have that much time, you can reach out to numerous people, who will allow for less workload/ more time to revise so you really feel confident when doing your exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support, there are numerous controls put into place to make sure that you are always feeling okay, whether that be home life or work life. You have a councilor who always reaches out and makes sure that you are okay, regardless of what you are going through as well as peers, and support buddies.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They help a lot, any little question you have you are encouraged to ask. I was ill during one of my college durations and I reached out to my tutor and straight away he got back to me with all the material I needed and any questions he was very happy to answer them and help me no matter how large or small.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is very relevant and directly links with the work you are doing, it allows for you to have a better grasp on what you are actually doing and why you are doing it, which in turn will improve your standard of work and really make you understand each little detail that you put in.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, I am part of many sports teams. Regardless of your skill level there is always a place for you. There are many other social activities for anything you are passionate about and if there are none, you can create one!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EY is a very hardworking, friendly company that really allows for growth and that is the desired end goal. The hybrid working also allows for flexibility, and to work however you feel suits you the best. The community is close knit and you never feel alone and always have an outlet for help.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Make sure to research the field first, know what you are signing up for, and have solid grounds on why you want to do the work, but more importantly establish why you want to work at EY and not any accounting practice as that will make you stand out.
