Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Managing the performance of chocolate manufacturing production line. Coach operators on problem solving and continuous improvement tools. Focus on safety and quality and make improvements in workplace. Manage team of 20-25 people
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship is similar to what I studied at university, so it’s been a nice refresher of content/theories. The assignments have been relevant and it has been enjoyable. Although would have preferred doing it face to face rather than teams

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
People management is a new skill I’ve learned for this role, attendance management/disciplinary/PIP. Also developed coaching and problem solving skills, and influencing others rather than telling them what to do

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very structured. Training days planned in advance with invites. Clear on deadlines. End point assessment information was vague at the beginning, but detailed now that we’re entering it
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Good support. My manager allows me the time off the job and also to complete my essays. Hard to manage time as my job is very demanding but my manager makes sure I’ve got time aside
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lincoln Uni has been supportive, available when I need them. Main tutor and I have catch up every 8-12 weeks. Good direction and support to complete it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Not 100% sure. Good to understand theories around people management but difficult to put into practice. On the job experience is fast paced and don’t always have time to prepare. But I have the knowledge when I have time to prepare
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
No not in my role/area of Nestle

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Nestlé to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Company with many avenues/opportunities for development. Good benefits. Range of teams to be around. I’m sure there are more benefits if in a different area such as the HQ Gatwick
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestlé?
Be open to opportunities. Don’t worry if your CV doesn’t match the job description 100%, there’s so much to learn - so apply anyway
