Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I will work on the monthly KPI reporting, as suppliers send over their data day by day, I will add the supplier data into the KPI spreadsheet. I do site inspections where I will walk around site and look out for things such as plant nappies being used, plant idling and if the waste is being segregated. I also work on updating multiple site noise exceedances

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

the longer i am on my placement the more responsibly i am given, i really appreciate being treated like a proper part of the team. I am responsible for organising the NRMM, KPI reporting, noise exceedances to name a few

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I've learnt lots of new skills such as how to write up management plans, data analysis, how to keep exceedance logs correctly up to date. Also skills like how to speak to other people in a professional manner, public speaking and networking.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

My team at Tideway have been extremely supportive of me, they have all made me feel so comfortable and have always been happy to help me and support me when needed. if i don't understand things straight away they help me walk through it in a way i understand and they have never made me feel silly for asking a question.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Going into construction i was a bit worried it would be very ladish but Costain / Tideway East has been absolutely amazing, everybody i have met has been lovely and always happy to help me if needed. everybody is very understanding and open to new ideas. as a young woman in construction i feel extremely comfortable at Tideway East.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have been thoroughly enjoying my placement at Tideway. Before starting here i was unsure what i wanted to do after i have finihsed university but this placement has helped me find something i love doing and want to do in the future.
