Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to strip bedding in all departs and remove any waste, clean and sanitise full room, make bed and place consumables in room and hoover. Ensure trolley is full for next shift. Hand in all lost property. I do makes and changes in any rooms that have been requested as well as doing deep cleans when required.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy all aspects of the program it has giving me the confidence to ask people to teach me thing out side of my job role. By doing the assessments it has helped me to realise that the knowledge I have is correct but also needs a little work on some areas.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to check refuge points when the fire alarm sounds and how to receive refuge calls. I have been shown how to check key card in and how to log on the system. I was show how todo a linen count and how todo a room check.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel it is well balanced and not too much all at once. I was overwhelmed at first as I wasn’t sure what to do but after meeting with my tutor she talked me through it all and explained how it all worked and now I find it really easy to follow.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

In regards to having extra hours to complete any work needed on my apprenticeship I am given all the support needed by my manager. When it comes to the work being carried out I am just left to get on with it however I am sure if I needed the managers help she wouldn’t hesitate to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive all the support I need, she always messages if she hasn’t heared from me in awhile just to check in and make sure am not struggling. When meeting face to face she is always supportive and understanding when ever I have any issues and makes me feel valued
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It is giving me alot more confidence in knowing my knowledge of the job is correct and I don't feel like am winging it anymore.i am also learning things that I wouldn't necessarily have learned if I wasn't doing my apprenticeship and that is helping me to be more assertive in my career
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There isn't anything at the moment however the manager is working hard to try and put things in place and the first thing she is working on is to get everyone together for a works night out at bingo. She is hoping to do alot more in the future.

Why?
I feel it is the only work place I have worked where you feel valued and appreciated for even the small things. You get recognised regularly and not just for doing things that's outside your job role but even for everyday little things that people come to expect of you like smiling and being accommodating.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
I would recommend that people dress appropriately for the job role they are applying for, always be polite with a smile on their face as well as being propered with answers that fit the job role but most importantly be them self and be honest because everyone is excepted at Whitbread regardless of previous jobs or experiences and background.
