Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role in the company is to be front of house, but primarily reception/bar. This involves checking people in, cutting keycards, allocating rooms, and just generally bonding with the guests we welcome. When at reception it is required that we stand up preferably when they enter the hotel as it gives a positive image on the company and those who work for it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme that I’m on because , like I previously mentioned , it enhances the way you bond with guests and people in general. Not only that but there are so many different positions in this job that allow you to strengthen the bonds you have with guests in the work place.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Whilst on reception I learnt how to check people in, how to cut the room keys in 2 different ways, room allocations would be finished for the guests to have a lovely room to stay in. You really get to express your people skills whilst working in this industry and it gets quite liberating if I’m honest.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I’d say that the programme im on is organised very well considering everything you need is all in one place, which is convenient for those who just wanna get the work done. It’s helpful to know that everything is in one place so you can quickly tap and scroll to wherever your next step begins.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
In terms of work support or mental support, my employer really is a star in that area. If there’s any need for professional help, this company offers a free helpline which offers assistance such as counselling, therapy, or just someone to talk to about issues you could be having.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider ensures I’m okay in every way. Whether that be okay with the tasks ahead, if I’m having a good day, or if I’m just okay in general. It’s nice to know I have someone to help me through the work and if I have any issues at all.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Knowing I have a qualification to gain gives me the edge to motivate for these tasks even more. It’s a great way of saying that I’ve earnt my way to the position eventually and I have to say it’s quite fulfilling in the endgame and even during this course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Every now and then, the company does charity events for the great olmond street hospital ( or gosh ) these would include runs and simple donations in the workplace. There are also raffles and quizzes that we do so people can put their mind to something whilst donating to a great cause.
