Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Running and organising the daily shift of the restaurant, ensuring each day is smooth and the team are trained to brand standards to provide our guests with the best experience. Doing weekly checks and paperwork to make sure the site is safe and in line with policies and making orders to ensure we are well equipped and well stocked
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find the learning interesting and enjoy the way it lets me sit down and think about how I work and the ways in which I can improve and grow and how that can then help the team to grow and develop themselves as well. The programme helps build my confidence.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Developed alot of ky leadership skills and learnt more about my personal leadership style and how to best train and nurture the team I look after. Developed my knowledge of stock management, including weekly stock counts and ordering. Also learnt how to accurately rota and forecast to have aces in places and make the best use of my teams abilities

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Although I did have a few issues with getting set ip on the course initially, once they got me on the correct course and I could start working through the course it was smooth sailing. The site is laid out well and the modules are easy to follow and complete.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am greatly supported by my employer, I do find time management to sometimes be a struggle as the business is very busy in general which sometimes effects my ability to complete the modules in good time but I can voice when I have these stuggles and get admin days to help this.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is very helpful and supportive. Shes also very understanding with both my needs and the needs of the business when I do have busy periods and trusts in me to catch up. Shes also patient in answering questions and helping me when I’m unsure about something
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification was originally for my progression from team leader to restaurant manager, while i got this promotion before finishing the course it has helped me to feel less overwhelmed with the earlier promotion and the workloads. I’m more confident in my abilities and feel it will make me an even better restaurant manager
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Its a very busy place so regular social activities aren't possible, but we do have christmas parties and the team often get together for birthdays and events. We also have regular events for salaried team and a yearly celebration for Christmas and the end of the financial year which is great fun

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
While I dont think hospitality is the industry for everyone its a greatly rewarding job and whitbread do very well to push you more to learn and progress yourself, they also do well to make sure their employees are rewarded and recognised for their work and this filters done into the team and site by site
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be ready to work hard. Its a satisfying job but its also a hard job, you spend a lot of time and dedication to make sure your site runs smoothly, to ensure your team is happy and progressing. Its a long process but the rewards when you feel the place running well and both team and guests are enjoying it. You’ll find some of your best friends in this job. Meet as many people as you can.
