Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I manage the day to day running of the site, make sure all the health and safety measures are on point, lead and support the team, I take care of the 4cast and the rotas, stock management, new team members induction, payroll, kcsa and co-pilot compliance, make sure brand standards are followed
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoyed it and the opportunity that it gave me. I felt like it helped me progress from DM to DHM and this is also why I’ve decided to enrol again, but this time Level 4 so it can help me more in my new role as salaried manager.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I was able to develop my existing skills as I was able to learn note about hospitality especially outside the Whitbread world to better understand how things may work in different work places. I learned more about laws and health and safety procedures which made me more aware of the risks and consequences I may face at work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it was well done and quite easy to keep up with. During the busiest times at work, my coach was always understanding and they would always look for the best way to accommodate my needs. I always felt like I was being looked after and I knew I could rely on them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

it can get very busy and very hard for managers to follow apprentices but they still try their best to support and help whenever they can. Now as a salaried manager myself, I understand it can be indeed difficult to find the time to follow apprentice as it should be.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support I received from my training provider was excellent. They were always there for any issue or problem I had, always very responsive and present. Also I felt like they really believed in me and my abilities. The portal was very easy to use and to understand as well as the learning sections.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It does help to get a wider knowledge of the hospitality industry without focusing only on Whitbread. I was able to understand how differently things may work in another company or hotel which I found very interesting and eyes opening as I have only worked for whitbread in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a collaboration with GOSH charity so we are constantly thinking of new and better ways to raise money for the charity.

Why?
I firmly believe whitbread is one of the greatest and best environment to work with. The company cares about its employees and it very inclusive which is one of the things I love the most about it. And also you have infinite ways to progress your career in different roles.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
When you enter the company, keep your mind open to everything and try to be a sponge to learn as many things as you can even from different department than yours as you’ll never know when that informare will be useful in the future. There’s so much to learn!
